Chlopskie Jadlo serves the best of Polish food with an extensive menu translated into 16 different languages (English, Italian, Spanish, French, Romanian, Hungarian, Swedish, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Dutch, Japanese, German, Chinese, Danish) to cater for international visitors. When it comes to Polish cuisine, there are many traditional options to choose from both in and around the centre of Krakow but getting the right mix between quality food in a genuine Polish atmosphere is sometimes hard to find. Eating at Chlopskie Jadlo is a rewarding experience for visitors wanting to experience something different. Chlopskie Jadlo is part of a chain of restaurants but this one at Agnieszki Street 1 is perfectly located near the Jewish area of Kazimierz, 3 minutes from Wawel Castle and only 7 minutes from the Market Square.
Feel like you are in a Polish village house from the beginning of the last century with irregular thick wooden tables and benches with cushions for your comfort. There are five rooms, each with their own unique atmosphere. The tables are unique as they are in the form of a cart and sleigh. Polish lace lies on the surface of each table top with old farming tools and village pictures adorning the walls. In the winter there is a fireplace which adds warmth to the interior.

Despite the name, which translates roughly as peasant food, the reality is far from this. Try the 'niecka chlopska' which consists of a special meal served in a large wooden pan and contains pork knuckles, stuffed cabbage leaves in tomato sauce, a mix of dumplings, smoked cheese, hunter's stew and Silesian dumplings. These are served with traditional Polish bread with lard and cottage cheese. Wash this down with some mulled wine in the winter or a local beer to add to the whole experience leaving you feeling satisfied and merry.
